Is Shahrukh Khan really on Twitter?

Posted by Suraj On January - 5 - 2010

A few months back, there were numerous twitter accounts of SRK that had ‘Fake’ written all over them. Some of the fake profiles had a melange of his pics as backdrop and the tweets generated were blatantly silly, considering SRK’s standards. But now it looks like SRK has finally made it to Twitter.

After Karan Johar, Priyanka Chopra and Preity Zinta, it is the King of Bollywood himself; My Name is Khan star Shah Rukh Khan is the latest in the Bollywood bandwagon to join Twitter. It came as a surprise for most of the tweeps, because just a few years ago, SRK was quoted saying that he wasn’t going to be on any social networking site.

For all those tweeps wondering if this one is real, the good news is… YES! Karan Johar who has a verified Twitter account confirmed that this is indeed the Baadshah himself in one of his tweets.

This video taken from NDTV has just what you need to know about @iamsrk, Shahrukh’s Twitter profile.

But what puzzles me is, there was a time when SRK made it clear that he wasn’t interested in blogging –”I don’t have time to blog” he said. What is the reason behind this sudden entry into Twitter? Some say Karan Johar coerced him into signing up. Is it a move to promote his upcoming movie, My Name is Khan? If so, why would a person of SRK’s stature want to advertise on Twitter? And the person who has assured the others that this is indeed SRK’s Twitter profile is Karan Johar, who happens to be the director of the movie; I wonder if this is just a coincidence!
