Walking in his way, he meets Manfred, a grumpy mammoth who believes he is the last mammoth left and doesn’t care about the extinction and is going north. Sid, follows Manfred when he saves his life from Rhinos and in the middle of their journey, they find a human mother with her baby. The mother eventually dies but Sid decides to take care of the baby and return the baby for the humans. Manfred has to give into Sid’s plan and they take the help of Diego, a saber-tooth tiger, who claims to know the location of the human camp. Diego however is from a clan of saber-tooths who hate humans and want to kill the baby.

Adding to all this mayhem is an acorn-loving saber-toothed squirrel named Scrat, who pops on the screen time and again.
